Senate Passes Sunday Hunting

The Virginia Senate has approved legislation lifting a ban on Sunday hunting. The vote was 29-11. Stafford Senator Richard Stuart says he's a hunter. But Stuart voted no. Stuart said, "You now take away the right of so many other people and so many other groups who would have been able to use their land on Sundays during hunting season." Stuart said some type of hunting now takes place about six months out of the year. He said non-hunters lose the ability to enjoy the woods on Sunday "without bullets whizing by or guns going off." Supporters say current law prevents people who work six days a week from having the chance to hunt. The legislation now goes to the House.
